One Swingin' Night: The Big Band Extravaganza at the MAC
An Evening with Living Jazz Legend David Baker

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!--join fellow students on Saturday, April 19, 2008, to celebrate the sounds of swing's most legendary players and composers at the annual Big Band Extravaganza.

Saturday's show will be conducted by Indiana University School of Music Professors David Baker and Pat Harbison. Dr. Baker chairs the Department of Jazz Studies at IU and serves as the conductor and artistic director of the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra. He has received nominations for the Pulitzer Prize and Grammy award, was named an Indiana Living Legend in 2001, and in 2007 was honored with the Living Jazz Legend Award. Selmer/Bach artist Pat Harbison is an active jazz clinician and has recorded for a variety of jazz albums including the Blue Wisp Big Band and David Baker's 21st century Bebop Band.

Special guests include the Billie Holiday Vocal Competition award-winner Delores King Williams, as well as Emmy Award winning vocalist Everett Greene. Get ready to swing!
