Hutton Honors College, 811 E.
Seventh St.
The Hutton Honors College is among the groups contributing to IU's
first "Culture of Care Week" (April 9-14), six days of events focused on
promoting education on bystander intervention, sexual assault, mental
health, and drug and alcohol-related emergencies.
The student organizers are aiming to foster a culture of care on campus
in accordance with the
newly passed Hoosier P.A.C.T.,
in which the goal is to promote an "act
now; save a life" mentality. Representatives from
Middle Way House and the Office of Women's Affairs with expertise in
prevention, crisis intervention, and on-scene advocacy, will examine
rape culture and the 3 D's of bystander intervention (Direct, Distract,
Delegate) April 10 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Join us for a pizza supper
and learn how
you can make a difference and create a culture of care on campus!
Selection of Other Culture of Care Events:
After the workshop, you are
welcome
to
attend the 7:00 p.m. screening of Miss Representation at the IU
Cinema. Kathryn Thompson and Allison Vanderberg will lead a discussion
following the film.
Also, Jaclyn Friedman, author of the hit book Yes
Means Yes: Visions of Female Sexual Power and a World Without Rape,
will be giving a lecture and book
signing in Woodburn 100 at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, April 11, 2012, Noon-1:00 p.m.: "Transcend
the
Everyday:
Managing Your Stress through Art" tour of the IU Art Museum with
