Pre-Professional Experience Internship Grants
Up to $1500 Fall or Spring
Up to $3000 Summer
Pre-Professional Experience Internship Grants are designed to
assist students serving in pre-professional apprenticeships outside the classroomin
the community or other locales, or on campusin some function or service
which bears upon the academic or professional goals of the student. These grants are awarded
on the basis of evidenced potential for a productive internship. Faculty
interest and involvement along with a well-articulated and specific proposal
also pertain. A good scholastic record is not a sufficient qualification
by itself. While internships are useful to those students considering graduate
study, they are also valuable for the advancement of a student's competency
in a subject area. Faculty willingness to work with and be responsible to
and for the intern is essential. If the person with whom the student is
working is not an IU faculty member, as frequently is the case, the student will need to have two (2)
letters of recommendation: one from the individual who will actually supervise
the internship, and one from a faculty member from the student's department.

If you are packaged with need-based federal financial aid (for
example, Stafford loans, Pell grants), and you receive one of the
HHC's grants, awards, scholarships, or prizes, your award may not be
paid-out in the form of cash funds (i.e., as money paid into your
Bursar account), but instead, may be used by IU's Office of Student
Financial Assistance (OSFA) to reduce your student loan burden.
