"I am most grateful for the Hutton Honors College grants! A Hutton grant sent my jazz quintet to the National Conservatory of Music in San Jose, Costa Rica, where we lead a week of concerts and clinics. The Honors College Professional grant paid for us to record a CD, and the Internship Grant helped me start a jazz combo program for high schoolers in Bloomington."

"What I enjoyed most about the Honors College was that it gave me the opportunity to take really interesting classes outside of my normal science courses, which sparked interests in other areas like anthropology, archaeology, art history, and African American studies that I previously hadn't been exposed to. Also, I felt I learned more about my self by taking the seminar style honors courses because I was able to actively participate in open discussion and debates, instead of just sitting through a lecture and taking notes. My favorite Honors teacher was Professor Rome who taught Confronting Authority. He definitely challenged my perception of society and reality and changed the way I view everything from movies and advertisements to governmental policies. Overall, the Honors College definitely enhanced my education here at IU and gave me the opportunity to meet a lot of very interesting and motivated students."

"It was a good experience on the whole. I felt like Honors College Students shoudl receive more priveleges and recognition and the notation should not be as mysterious to achieve as it currently is. Also honors college classes should be ones that are divergent from our majors so that honors students can take a break from their chosen area study and take a class about creative writing, telecommunication, art, or astronomy."

I'm happy to be relocating close enough to visit campus now and then--can't imagine having gone to school anywhere else!"
