Ortoleva Joins the American Association for the Advancement of Science
Peter Ortoleva, Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, has joined the American Association for the Advancement
of Science
(AAAS) as a fellow-one of the most prestigious
honors conferred in the sciences. Ortoleva's research crosses traditional disciplinary boundaries among chemistry, computational sciences, informatics, and physics.
Specifically, the AAAS conferred the fellowship based on Professor Ortoleva's "distinguished contributions to the theory of the self-organization of matter across scales
from
nanometers to kilometers as understood through the basic laws of physics"-the very subject of a course he teaches exclusively to Hutton Honors College students (next
offering: spring 2012)!
Congratulations, Professor Ortoleva!
