Derek Jones
Derek is IUBJJ's junior instructor. He received his blue belt from Caique in February 2010. Derek is currently pursuing a Ph.D in philosophy at IU, where, among other things, he studies the role of the body in cognition and action. Prior to attending IU Derek served as a commissioned officer in the Army and earned a Masters degree in philosophy at the University of Houston. He also holds a black belt in Shotokan Karate. He has a wonderful wife who is kind enough to let him train as much as he does and a 2 year old son who has a better hip escape than 20% of the club membership.
