Graduate Programs at IUPUI
Graduate programs are available only on the Indianapolis campus. Programs include Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), post-master’s, Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science (PhD), Doctor of Nursing Practice(DNP) and postdoctoral options. It is one of the most comprehensive graduate programs in the world, putting students in high demand after they graduate. In 2011, U.S. News & World Report ranked IUSON 15th in the nation out of hundreds of graduate nursing programs. Higher still were the rankings in adult health (3rd), mental health/psychiatric nursing (6th), and family nurse practitioner (11th).
Several options exist for the MSN, PhD and DNP degrees. Programs include nine major areas of study in the MSN degree and two focus areas within the PhD degree.
Indiana University School of Nursing continues to pursue ways to make graduate programs accessible to busy, career-oriented students, with expanding online course offerings and a weekend format for nursing administration and community health majors. Additionally, students have opportunities to be involved in research through IUPUI centers and institutes.
