IU Nursing Degree Programs
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- The four-year BSN is offered on the Bloomington campus. With
the exception of the Columbus campus, all other campuses of the IU
School of Nursing also offer the BSN degree. The BSN degree prepares
students to become Registered Nurses.
- RN (Registered Nurse) to BSN Mobility Program
RN to BSN mobility program is designed for ASN-trained Registered
Nurses who now wish to earn a BSN. The program is available at IU
Bloomington. The RN-BSN
Program Plan Sheet and the
RN-BSN Cohort Sequence are available in PDF. The RN-BSN program is also available at IUPUC (Columbus), IUPUI, IU East, IU Kokomo, IU Northwest, IU South Bend, and IU
Southeast. Please contact your
campus of choice for additional information.
- Second Degree BSN
- The second degree BSN is offered only on the Indianapolis and South Bend campuses. This is an 18-month
full-time program for students
who already have a baccalaureate degree in another discipline. Students must complete all nursing general education course work before
applying for admission to this program. Please consult an advisor on the Indianapolis or South Bend campus for additional information.
- Graduate Programs
- Indiana University's graduate program - including master's,
post-master's, PhD, and postdoctoral options - is one of the most
comprehensive in the world, putting IU students in high demand after they
graduate. In 2007, U.S. News & World Report ranked IU's graduate
program 15th in the nation out of hundreds of graduate nursing programs.
Higher still were IU's rankings in adult health (3rd), mental
health/psychiatric nursing (6th), and Family Nurse Practitioner (11th). A wide range of graduate programs
of study are offered on the IUPUI campus of the IU School of Nursing.
Graduate study in nursing is not available on other IU campuses at this time. Please
contact IUPUI for information on the following options.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN): prepares students who wish to become clinical nurse specialists,
nurse practitioners, or administrators.
- ASN to MSN Mobility Option: offers graduate studies to Registered Nurses who do not have a BSN degree.
- Doctorate in Nursing (Ph.D.): prepares students for research and teaching.
