Performance Management for Professional Staff
The IU Bloomington Professional Council supports Performance Management processes for professional staff at the IUB campus. Performance Management is an effective way for supervisors and employees to communicate so that expectations are clear, job performance is regularly discussed, training and professional development are pursued, and small problems are addressed before they become significant impediments to successful achievement of departmental goals.
Performance management emphasizes a continuous process of planning, communication, evaluation, and development. Performance appraisal, which focuses primarily on an annual evaluation form, should be part of performance management.
