Indiana University Bloomington

Ad-Hoc and Campus Committees

The BPC has four standing committees that carry on the work of the organization. Each BPC representative serves on one standing committee.

Affirmative Action Grievance Panel

This committee hears staff grievances related to perceived non-compliance with the university’s affirmative action policy.

Anti-Sweatshop Advisory Committee

The goal of this committee is to ensure that companies that license the IU name and trademark adhere to the university’s licensee code of conduct, which does not allow IU-licensed apparel to be made in sweatshops. To visit the committee’s web site, click here.

Budgetary Advisory Committee

This committee helps evaluate the annual budget requests of Responsibility Centers (RC’s).

Campus Child Care Coalition

This group monitors child care facilities on campus and advocates for qualified and affordable child care.

Capital Priorities Committee

This committee evaluates proposals for capital investment on the IU-Bloomington campus (e.g. new buildings, parking garages, etc.).

Classification Appeals Committee

This committee hears appeals from staff members and their managers whose request for job reclassification has been denied by UHRS.

Commission on Personal Safety

This group works to ensure that lighting, bike paths, and other infrastructure is in place for the safety of students, faculty, and staff on campus. It also supports educational programs focused on safety as well as the campus safety escort service (bus). See indiana.edu/~cps for more info.

Grievance Representative

These BPC representatives have volunteered to be present as “silent partners” at professional staff grievance hearings through UHRS.

Commission on Health Care

This group of campus administrators and staff representatives focuses on health care plans and policies for IU employees.
