Standing Committees

The BPC has four standing committees that carry on the work of the organization. Each BPC representative serves on one standing committee.

Executive Committee

Comprised of the BPC officers, this committee decides the BPC’s agenda each month, formulates statements on behalf of the BPC, and guides the activities of the other committees. The Executive Committee also runs the annual BPC elections and organizes the annual September retreat during which BPC representatives develop annual action plans.

Communications and Marketing Committee

This committee produces the bi-monthly BPC newsletter, publicizes BPC events and programs, and contacts the media about BPC position statements.

Professional Interests Committee

This group evaluates the applications for Professional Development Grants three times a year, organizes fundraising efforts like the annual silent auction, fields concerns about salary and benefits issues, and overseas the “Perks” website describing discounts available to IU staff.

Outreach and Advocacy Committee

This committee organizes forums and other activities to inform staff about timely campus issues and to facilitate communication among staff members. In particular, the group focuses on including staff from diverse backgrounds, and it also participates in Hoosiers for Higher Education to advocate for IU at the state legislature. Staff recognition is another topic of concern to this committee.
