Professional staff elect their BPC representatives each spring. Council members serve three-year terms, and each year, one-third of all council seats are up for election. A representative may serve two terms (6 years) consecutively if he/she wins re-election. Then he/she must sit out at least one term before again being eligible to run for a Council seat.
Council representatives are your voice on the BPC. If you have any concerns about campus issues, please contact your unit representatives to let them know. We welcome your input and ideas. Each professional staff member is in a certain BPC unit, and each unit has three representatives, so you have three BPC members working to serve you. You also vote only for the respresentative in your unit.
Feel free to put your own name forward to serve on the BPC! The only requirement is that you have been employed as a professional staff member working on the Bloomington campus for at least one year prior to the opening of the nominating period. Staff working in University Administration (UA) as well as in departments located within the IU-Bloomington campus structure are eligible, as long as they are physically working in Bloomington.
