Michael Hamburger Award for Sustainable Action
In the Fall of 2011, the Student Sustainability Council voted unanimously to create an annual award recognizing a deserving member of the Indiana community who has generated awareness of, interest in, and novel approaches to matters of environmental, economic, or social sustainability. The award will be delivered during SustainIU, a week of sustainability-oriented events that the SSC puts on each spring. To nominate an individual from the Indiana University community to receive the award, contact email@example.com.
2012-2013 Recipient: Peggy Maschino, Associate Director of Business Affairs, Physical Plant
Anonymous nominator's comments: "Peggy Maschino has been an invaluable asset to the sustainability initiative at Indiana University Bloomington. She has coordinated a campaign to fully meter the campus, empowering the Physical Plant, the Campus Sustainability Advisory Board's Energy and Built Environment Working Group, and our office with the data necessary to document accurately, and with detail, our current energy consumption, as well as track and evaluate the success of behavior modification programming. She is a brilliant, passionate, and compassionate leader, and much of the current progress on the operational side of the university is due to her efforts. I am certain you'll receive many impressive nominations, but I hope you will consider her monumental efforts as worthy of recognition."
