DAAD Scholarships and Grants

DAAD Research Grants and Study Scholarships in Academic Fields 

IU deadline: Monday October 29, 2018 

National deadline: November 5, 2018

Indiana University - Bloomington, is a DAAD partner university and the campus coordinator is Paul Fogleman (; 812-855-3948). All interested applicants are advised to contact him for guidance. Campus application procedures described below. Students who submit materials by the campus deadline will have their statement reviewed and critiqued. 

DAAD Research Grants 

Research Grants for Doctoral Candidates and Young Academics and Scientists are awarded to highly qualified candidates who have completed a Master's degree or Diplom, or in exceptional cases a Bachelor's degree at the latest by the time they begin their grant-supported research.

DAAD Study Scholarships

For highly qualified final year undergraduate students or those who have received an undergraduate degree of all disciplines for a full master's degree program at a German university, or for study at a German university as part of a postgraduate or Master's degree program completed in the home country.

Campus Application Procedures for the DAAD Study Scholarship or Research Grant. 

By 5:00pm on Monday October 29, submit: 

- Draft of study proposal. From the DAAD guidelines: Your study proposal should include a narrative about academic and personal reasons for the planned study explaining why a particular program has been chosen and how it will further your educational and career goals. Maximum of 3 pages. No format restrictions regarding font, spacing and paragraphs.

- 1 signed reference in a sealed envelope.
