Everyday Mathematics Learning Goals  Foundation  You may see the child begin to do the following Foundation:
B1 Recognizes numbers 0 to 5. NUMBER 1.1 Use the names for numbers.
B2 Performs rote counting 1 to 5. NUMBER 1.5 Count series of objects in a group and tell the number (e.g., show me 5 beads).
B3 Counts 1 to 5 objects, actions, or sounds. NUMBER 1.5 Count series of objects in a group and tell the number.
B4 Forms groups of 0 to 5 objects. NUMBER 1.5 Count series of objects in a group and tell the number.
B5 Arranges groups of objects to one-to-one COMP 2.1 Experience one-to-one correspondence
correspondence.     (e.g., 5 cups for 5 people at the table).
B6 Identifies and describes the similarities and  PROB SOLV 6.7 Describe similarities and differences between objects.
  differences of objects.
B7 Locates objects using position and direction GEOM 4.3 Use words that indicate where things are in space
words, such as next to or behind.   (e.g., beside, inside, behind, above, below, here,
there, in, out, over, under, next to, near, far).
B8 Explores the purpose and use of clocks and  MEAS 5.4 Recognize time as a sequence of events that relate to
calendars.      daily life (e.g., in the morning, after snack).
B9 Collects data about people, objects and events. PROB SOLV 6.1 Group interesting objects, name or describe groups found
in the environment, and label or describe those collections.

Everyday Mathematics Learning Goals Foundation  You may see the child begin to do the following Foundation:
M1 Recognizes numbers 0 to 10. NUMBER 1.1 Use the names for numbers.
M2 Performs rote counting 1 to 10 NUMBER 1.5 Count series of objects in a group and tell the number (e.g., show me 5 beads).
M3 Counts 1 to 10 objects, actions or sounds. NUMBER 1.5 Count series of objects in a group and tell the number.
M4 Forms groups of 0 to 10 objects. NUMBER 1.5 Count series of objects in a group and tell the number.
M5 Matches correct numbers to groups of 0 to  NUMBER 1.5 Count series of objects in a group and tell the number.
  10 objects.
M6 Compares groups of objects to determine more, less, or same/equal to, using one-to-one correspondence.  COMP 2.2 Understand the concepts of same, equal, one more, or less than.
M7 Sorts and classifies objects by their attributes. PROB SOLV 6.7 Describe similarities and differences between objects.
M8 Recognizes, copies, and extends patterns. ALGEBRA & FUNCTIONS 3.1 Reproduce patterns of sounds and movements.
3.2 Recognize simple patterns of concrete objects (e.g., look at beads that are strung yellow, blue, yellow, blue, and identify the pattern).
3.3 Reproduce simple patterns of concrete objects (e.g., string beads that are yellow, blue, yellow, blue).
3.4 Predict what comes next when simple patterns are extended.
M9 Recognizes, identifies, and describes 2-dimensional shapes. GEOM 4.2 Recognize, describe, and name shapes (e.g., circles, triangles, rectangles, squares).
M10 Compares objects by size, height, weight, and  COMP 2.5 Count objects, sort, organize, and compare groups of
  length, using comparison words.     objects.

Everyday Mathematics Learning Goals Foundation  You may see the child begin to do the following Foundation:
L1 Performs rote counting 1 to 20. NUMBER 1.5 Count series of objects in a group and tell the number (e.g., show me 5 beads).
L2 Participates in solving simple addition and  NUMBER 2.7 Model situations that involve the addition and subtraction
subtraction number stories.     of whole numbers, using objects, pictures, and symbols.
L3 Generates and describes new patterns. ALG&FUNC 3.4 Predict what comes next when simple patterns are extended.
L4 Compares and sorts geometric shapes by ALGEBRA & 3.5 Explore attributes of objects and begin to sort by similar
common attributes. FUNCTIONS   traits such as shape, color, size, or function.
L5 Recognizes, identifies, and describes 3-dimensional shapes. GEOM 4.6 Recognize geometric shapes in the environment.
L6 Orders objects by size, height, weight, and  ALGEBRA & 3.5 Recognize objects arranged in a series and begin to place
length. FUNCTIONS   objects in order through trial and error.
L7 Uses nonstandard MEAS to determine  MEAS 5.2 Use familiar objects as measuring devices (e.g., finger
height and length.     width, arms length, foot length).
L8 Identify coins by color and markings. COMP 2.3 Explore the use and meaning of currency and coins.
L9 Sequences events in the order of occurrence  MEAS 5.4 Recognize time as a sequence of events that relate to
using time concepts, such as      daily life (e.g., in the morning, after snack).
  morning/afternoon/night.
L10 Displays data using objects, pictures, and  PROB SOLV 6.2 Represent the data in a variety of ways.
graphs.   6.3 Interpret information presented in graph form; draw and discuss information.
