Committees
We have four committees within IUCD, each tasked with specific goals to accomplish.
Policy/Sustainability: We are responsible for organizing and participating in debates with the College Republicans, working with student groups and the IU task force to improve IU campus sustainability, tracking important legislation at the state and national levels, and bringing in speakers to discuss policy at IU College Democrats meetings.
Public Relations: The Public Relations committee combines elements of communicating and publicizing events, opinions and news on behalf of the College Democrats. Involvement on this committee involves writing press releases, chalking for events, passing out information and writing to newspapers. If you have enjoy voicing your opinion and want to help contribute to the growth of College Democrats, come join our committee! Our work is done as a group and also individually.
Membership/Outreach: The goals of our committee are to increase and retain membership for the College Democrats at IU, reach out to and coordinate events with other student organizations, both at IU and at other universities, and promote friendship and socialization between members of the College Democrats at IU by planning and coordinating a variety of social events. We meet in the Oak Room of the IMU on Wednesdays at 8 p.m.
Community Service: The community outreach committee works with local organizations, political groups, and government leaders. The committee works to build rapport with members of the Bloomington community and plans philanthropic events.
