IU's National Day of Silence Mission:
- Encourage the student body and the community to become active in issues of social justice.
- Encourage the community and student body to make their voices heard in order to create an environment were everyone is accepted regardless of sexual orientation or ethnicity.
- Help people to consider creative and positive responses to hate.
- Encourage individuals to find and use their voice against oppression.
