G426/G526: Field Techniques in Basin Analysis

This course is designed for senior level undergraduates and entering graduate students who are interested in conducting field research in clastic sedimentary geology. Several integrated class projects will cover physical sedimentology and facies analysis, paleocurrent and provenance analysis, measured stratigraphic sections, and facies mapping at a variety of scales. Projects are centered on nonmarine Mesozoic and Cenozoic strata in Montana and Utah. 

Dates (tentative) June 19 - July 8, 2007

Location: Class begins and ends in Salt Lake City. There is an option to leave from, and return to, Bloomington in a University vehicle at extra cost.

Credit: Students may register for 1-3 credits at undergraduate or graduate level.

Cost: lodging, transportation (SLC-SLC), food while at IUGFS: $850; tuition ($207.83/credit in-state undergrad; $614.75/credit out-state undergrad; $241.30/credit in-state grad; $702.75/credit out-state grad); Limited financial support is available
