Participant's comments

Hear what former participants have said about the program

One crazy host family on vacation "This summer was the greatest experience of my life and I could never forget it. It taught me about myself, life, independence, family, friendship, fear, and of course French!"

"The program is truly great. I admit I went to Germany with the idea that it can’t be so good as America, and I came back with the love of a country and a new family. Now I find myself reliving every second of a perfect summer." Students singing the Star Spangled Banner

"I made a lot of progress; I think the seven weeks were worth more than several years of study at school in America."

"The teachers were the best I have ever had. They always had a smile for us and they genuinely cared for us."

Students in front of the Opˇra in Paris"I greatly enjoyed attending classes with other students who were not only motivated to learn, but actually pushed and encouraged each other. I learned tons of Spanish because of the no-English rule."

"I loved being totally immersed into a new culture! … My family took great pride in teaching me all about the culture of the area . . . I truly had a wonderful experience."

These enthusiastic comments are just a few of countless testimonies to the pride and joy of former participants in the IU Honors Program in Foreign Languages for High School Students. This program ranks as one of the very best available at the pre-college level, for it allows its participants to gain an understanding of the culture and the language of the country visited that cannot be had in an American classroom, and cannot be duplicated even at the college level.
