Gaps as Syntactic Features

By John Bear

Expanding on the Gazdar type grammar in Bear and Karttunen (1979), Bear presents a grammar written for a left corner parser, a fact which colors some of the discussion. In particular, this paper talks of treees being built from the bottom up, rather than from the top down.
