An Introduction to the siSwati Language Lessons and Glossary

By Claudia Corum

This African language text was formerly available from the Indiana University African Studies program, and is now being distributed by the IULC. Corum's work presents an introductory course in siSwati, a Bantu language with approximately 1 million speakers in Swaziland and South Africa. Lessons consist of a dialog showing usage of new structures and material followed by vocabulary list. Extensive discussion of the new structures and grammatical topics are presented, followed by some exercises. This text will be useful both to language learners as a tutorial text and to linguists and others as a grammatical reference. The author recommends some additional texts that may be used in conjunction with this one in a classroom setting.
