This orthography and lexicon are based on fieldwork conducted on Emai, an Edoid language of south-central Nigeria. The orthography statement highlights some of the problems posed by the phonological process of vowel elision and by grammatical patterns of tense / aspect. The rest of the work comprises an Emai-English dictionary. Since linguistic investigation of the Edoid family, especially Emai, is extremely scarce, this work will prove valuable for those working on the lexicon or in Kwa languages.
