Professional Experience

1997-present Associate Professor; Director, Indiana Center for Evaluation: Department of Curriculum and Instruction, School of Education, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. Responsible for developing and teaching graduate courses in Teacher Education, research design, and program evaluation, graduate student advising and research; establishing and overseeing university sponsored center offering contract evaluation services to state and federal educational agencies and non-profit organizations.
1991-1997 Assistant Professor; Director, Teacher Education Laboratory; Director, Teacher as Decision Maker Program: Department of Curriculum and Instruction, School of Education, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. Responsible for developing and teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in teacher education and educational research, graduate student advising; development, implementation staff management, and oversight of The Teacher Education Laboratory to provide on-campus, clinical experiences for graduate and undergraduate students in education; reorganization and direction of an intensive post-baccalaureate teacher certification program focused on recruiting, preparing, and supporting minority interns for urban contexts.

    My primary interests are: program evaluation, particularly in the educational and not-for-profit sectors; quantitative and qualitative inquiry into teaching methods and behavior, instructional practices, and teacher and professional education; development and research of teacher training materials and practices (particularly clinical experiences) which promote teachers' use of skills drawn from teacher and school effectiveness research; theory, history, role, and rationale of generic aspects of teacher education; curriculum, instruction, and policy in teacher education.
