2001-2002 Outreach Coordinator: Designed and presented a teacher workshop titled “Using Art and Music to Learn about Latin America. Collaborated with Bloomington area and statewide K-12 Teachers to increase awareness of Latin America through presentations, workshops and resources.
1998-2001 1st/2nd Grade Bilingual Teacher: Developed and implemented developmentally and culturally appropriate bilingual and ESL weekly lesson plans. Evaluated students using a variety of assessment tools. Served as chairperson for 2nd Grade, PPAC & School Improvement Plan.
1997-1998 5th/6th Grade Teacher: Created, presented lessons and assessed students' progress based on Whole Language Methodology. Appropriated lessons to accommodate students from various cultural and language backgrounds.
1997-1998 Study Abroad Program Evaluator: Analyzed academic content and worked to create an appropriate balance between field based and classroom activities for the CIC/ENTRENA program, "Issues of Health, Nutrition, and the Environment of Latin America."
1997-1998 Coordinator for ESL Baseball Program/ESL Instructor : Designed, implemented and evaluated a specialized ESL and U.S. culture curriculum for young Dominican major league baseball prospects. Trained teachers in "hands-on" curriculum methodology and assessment. Taught classes in ESL and cross-cultural skills.
1993-1997 International Education Outreach Assistant/Peer Advisor: Advised students about study abroad procedures and specific programs. Organized and conducted campus presentations on studying abroad.
