Dear Colleague:

The Department of Political Science at Indiana University, Bloomington is delighted to announce its current candidates on the market for AY 2007-08.

Our Ph.D. students on the market are very promising political scientists. Our graduate program in conjunction with the Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis (led by Elinor and Vincent Ostrom) and the joint Ph. D. program with School of Public and Environmental Affairs has a very strong tradition of training rigorous young political scientists. We emphasize breadth of scholarship, with experience in original research and preparation for teaching in various settings. As such, all of our candidates reflect Indiana University's unique integration of teaching and research that should appeal to any prospective employer.. Many of our students have taught their own classes and at the same time have received highly competitive external grants. All have presented papers to professional conferences, and some already have several publications in respected disciplinary journals.

The recent placement of our students reflects our renewed effort to boost the overall reputation of our graduate program. During the last year (2006-07), for example, ten of our students obtained well-deserved academic jobs at prestigious research universities and select liberal arts colleges such as University of Iowa, University of Nebraska, University of Houston, University of Oklahoma, University of Mississippi, Washington College, San Francisco State University, Illinois State University, University of New Mexico, Spring Hill College.

We take the liberty of inviting you to give serious consideration to our candidates. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you need additional information.

Sincerely,

Aurelian Craiutu
