The Research Collection is located in Woodburn 200. It is a departmental library containing a selection of curriculum oriented materials of interest to political scientists. Circulating books, reference materials, journals, reserve materials, a file of course outlines, dissertations, master’s theses, and honors papers are available for use to students and faculty. Reference services are offered, and students are encouraged to ask for assistance in using the Research Collection's resources. There is seating for seventy-eight people.
Origin of the Research Collection
The Research Collection became the Political Science Department’s library in 1966 when the department moved from Ballantine Hall to Woodburn Hall. At that time most of the books had previously belonged to the Institute of Public Administration, while other books came from the Bureau of Government Research, the Institute of Politics, and the Institute of Training for Public Service. It now houses approximately 9,000 volumes, many of which have been donated by the political science faculty.
