RAW is gearing up for our hottest event, so mark your calendar and join us for a night of fabulous live music -- featuring La Chansons -- and deliciously naughty, kissing-themed games!
What: Sealed with a Kiss When: Friday, February 6, 2009 (time TBA) Where: The Lodge, 101 E 6th St (above Subway) Why: So we can kiss our way into a kinder world!
Singles and couples of all orientations are invited to dance (and kiss!) the night away, win awesome prizes, eat delicious food from local sponsors, and raise money and awareness to help bring an end to Canada's annual seal slaughter.
This unbelievably cruel and senseless commercial hunt is the world's largest slaughter of marine mammals, claiming the lives of over 350,000 harp and hooded seals each year. The seals, most of whom are young pups, are brutally clubbed to death for their fur, and the many who don't die immediately are literally skinned alive. Visit Protectseals.org for more information.
Rather than shut down in the face of such horrific cruelty, RAW thinks it's crucial to combat it with positivity and compassion. Sealed with a Kiss is a celebration of the positive connections we share with animals -- and of the considerable progress that has been made in the struggle to end this slaughter for good. So prepare to get your kiss on!
Contact Courtney (cwenners) if you'd like to get involved as a sponsor or volunteer. UnFUNdraising: RAW's response to Dollars for Delilah's
Dec 04 2008
RAW is launching a campaign to counteract the well-meaning but misguided efforts of Dollars for Delilah's, a student project aiming to help the business get "back on their paws," according to yesterday's IDS article. While RAW was deeply saddened to hear about the animals who died in the Delilah's fire, we think giving money to a business that sells animals for profit is a bad move. Our campaign will promote adoption and educate the public about where most pet store puppies come from. There are lots of ways to help, most requiring as little as an hour of your time! Please contact Kara (klkendal) if you'd like to get involved! How to Help

May 28 2008
Let's make this summer EGGs-ceptional! Right now, RAW and the HSUS (Humane Society of the United States) are hoping to partner with IUB dining services to help our campus transition to using cage-free eggs.
As you may know, laying hens are some of the most abused farm animals in our country - suffering horrifically from their deplorable confinement in "battery cages."
As the HSUS points out, "In most egg facilities, each hen is allotted 67 square inches of space - less than the size of a sheet of paper."
YIKES!!! That doesn't sound very fun. Please watch this 2-minute HSUS video of battery cages to get a sense of what these conditions really look like.

Are you are ready for a change yet? At RAW, we believe that we can do better for our nation's chickens. If you would like to join our campaign, please contact Courtney for more information: cwenners@indiana.edu. Let's make sure that IUB remains an innovator in sustainability and the humane treatment of animals. It's that time of year: FURRY FINALS FIX

Jan 07 2008
Calling All Members!! Join us for our Sealed with a Kiss meeting this Thursday evening at 7:30 in Ballantine 247. We are going to discuss our time-line, organize some simple FUNdraising events, decide on hot celebrities to contact, and organize a list of local businesses and other student organizations that might partner with us.
In order to reserve a venue - which we needed to do like YESTERDAY - we desperately need some funds. So if you can raise $10 or more to bring on Thursday, the seals would be most appreciative.
PLEASE COME OUT--This will be so much fun! Kiss for a Cause & Egg-strordinary IU!
Nov 06 2007
We're now in the planning stages of two of our most exciting projects! Get ready to kiss for a cause at Sealed with a Kiss, our first annual kissing marathon. This event is a sexy, savvy way to raise awareness and money to help the fuzzy victims of Canada's annual seal slaughter. We're also getting ready to make IU more egg-straodinary than ever by teaming up with the Humane Society of the United States in order to convince our dining services to switch to cage-free eggs! Both of these awesome projects need your help, so get in touch with either Courtney or Deborah if you want to get involved! DIRTY, DIRTY DOG WASH!
