SWSEEL Performing ArtsIn addition to excellent language instruction, the Summer Workshop provides a rich and diverse cultural program. Students of Russian may sing in a choir, participate in poetry and drama clubs, as well as attend films and lectures. Russian ConcertThe end-of-workshop concert programs give participants the opportunity to showcase what they've learned in classes. This is also a unique opportunity to build language ability. Below, students participate in the Russian concert by performing skits they've created. Seen here, professors are always encouraging during preparations for the event, and, of course, during the performances.
East European/Central Asian ConcertBecause of the large numbers of student performances, East European and Central Asian classes perform at a different time than their Russian counterparts. As seen below, there is a wide variety of skits and performances, which makes the afternoon enjoyable.
Silk RoadThe Silk Road Bayram (Festival) is an annual event, celebrating the fine arts, culture and music of the countries Marco Polo once explored. In addition to enjoying the Silk Road Ensemble's musical performances, SWSEEL students have the opportunity to attend several other Silk Road Festival events, including a Festival Film Series which shows films from countries throughout the region.
Russian ChoirParticipants also have the opportunity to join a Russian choir. The performance is always a highlight at the end of the workshop session.
