East and Central European Languages
June 19 - August 14
The 2009 Summer Workshop will offer the following languages:
- First year Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian**
- First year Czech*
- First year Hungarian
- First year Macedonian**
- First year Polish*
- First year Romanian**
- First year Slovene*
- First year Ukrainian
Courses in the Eastern European program offer 10 hours of undergraduate
or graduate credit. The Hungarian course grants 8 hours of credit to undergraduates and 6
hours to graduates. Courses in these languages are equivalent to one year of academic work and meet 20 hours per week. Instruction is Monday to Friday from 9 to 12 with additional morning
or afternoon conversation classes. Films and lectures are offered as part of the cultural
program. Fellowships are available for graduate students on a competitive basis. Please see

Application deadline for Fellowships is March 20,
2009 (except for Czech, Polish, and Slovene, see note above). Thereafter, rolling admissions.
