Welcome to the Home Page of the IU Chapter of Student NATS!

We are an officially recognized organization of Indiana University whose primary focus is the promotion of vocal pedagogy, as well as career building and support for those interested in teaching voice as a career. We welcome anyone interested in the teaching of voice to become a member. We meet once per month for discussions regarding any aspect of vocal pedagogy. For meeting information, please see the Announcement and Calendar page.

What is Student NATS?

The National Association of Teachers of Singing has fostered the formation of student chapters in order to advance knowledge about the Association and the professions of teaching and singing. A Student NATS (SNATS) Chapter is an organization of students who can meet, hold events and discussions, participate, practice and learn more about voice teaching as a profession.

"A tremendous gap exists between the student years and the professional teaching years.  SNATS Chapters mentor young singers into the profession at a grass roots level. and provide opportunities for supplementary information and education within NATS.

--Dr. Kathryn Proctor Duax
Former Vice-President for Discretionary Funds
& Field Activities of NATS
and SNATS Coordinator
