Julia Rademacher was our first speaker for the year.
Ms. Rademacher is a contributing lecturer in the graduate
Voice Disorders, Videostroboscopy, and Care of the
Professional Voice courses within the Speech and Hearing
Sciences Department and Indiana University. Ms.
Rademacher is interested in assessment and treatment of
voice disorders. Of particular interest is
professional voice care, disorders related specifically to
singing voices, and voice and gender presentation.
We had
a great time asking her questions about voice care and vocal
disorders. |

We were
also very fortunate to have received a donation of musical
books and scores from retiring Professor Giorgio Tozzi.
Here's a picture of IU Student NATS members making a mad
dash for this valuable and much appreciated collection of
music. |

Our
next guest was world renowned singer, IU alumni and IU
faculty member, Sylvia McNair. Ms. McNair talked to us
about her experience at IU, how she first got started in the
business, her thoughts on musical theatre, and what it takes
to succeed. Here are some pictures. |

Our
last meeting of the year included a 60 min lecture from
Professor Lynn Helding of the Dickson College Department of
Music. Her lecture entitled "Connecting Voice Science
to Vocal Art" was fascinating and provided us with valuable
information about motor learning. |
|
|
Professor Moore was Professor Helding's voice teacher while
she studied at IU.

Professor Cuccaro gave a presentation on vocal technique to a packed house at the First United Methodist Church.

Professor Poulimenos gave a lecture on his ideas on vocal technique in the Parsifal room.
