Matthew Latta, President
A native of Parke County, Indiana, tenor Matthew Latta is currently completing his doctoral studies in vocal performance and literature at Indiana University. Latta has received a Bachelor of Music from the University of Evansville (2003) and a Master of Music from Indiana University (2006). His Indiana University Opera Theater credits include Junker Spärlich (The Merry Wives of Windsor), a Groomsman in William Bolcom’s A Wedding (a collegiate premiere), Elder Gleaton (Susannah), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), and Flute (A Midsummer Night’s Dream). Other operatic roles include Jupiter (Semele), Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus), First Bird in Richard Faith’s Beauty and the Beast (world première), and the role of Martin in Bruce Trinkley and Richard Charnesky’s opera opera.com.edy (world premiere). Latta is an alumnus of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity (Epsilon Upsilon Chapter) and of the Mortar Board Senior Honor Society. Latta is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and serves as the current President of the Indiana University Chapter of the Student National Association of Teachers of Singing. Latta is a member of the voice faculty at Vincennes University and is currently a student of Brian Horne.
