Soprano Fang-Yu Lin is pursuing her Doctor of Music at IU Jacobs School of Music. She received Bachelor of Music in voice education and performance at National Taiwan Normal University (2002) and Master of Music at IU (2005) in voice performance. Ms. Lin was the finalist of Neue Stimme International Vocal Competition, Japan (2009), and she was awarded Honorable Mention Award, Bel Canto Category in The Second Chinese International Vocal Competition, NYC (2008), Bel Canto Award, Orpheus National Vocal Competition, Murfreesboro (2007), Opera Scholarship (2006-08), Dean’s Scholarship (2005-2008), Graduate Scholarship (2003-2005), and Mendel Awards (2003-2005). Lin has been performed through out the U.S., Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia. Ms. Lin was heard as the soloist inBrahms’s Ein Deutsches Requiem (2006), Contemporary Vocal Ensemble (2005), International Vocal Ensemble (2004), and lecture recitals and master classes with Richard Hundley, Edward Penhorwood, Roger Vignoles, Virginia Zeani, Thomas Grubb, and Andreas Poulimenos. She has been professor Patricia Wise’s teaching assistant since 2006, and she serves as an active board member in IU Student-NATS since 2004.
