Lisa Lowry, Recording Secretary

Soprano Lisa Lowry, from Canada, is an IU doctoral student studying with Andreas Poulimenos and previously with Patricia Wise. There, she has been soloist for a number of choral works including Heras’ de profundis, Schumann’s Mass in E-flat, and Haydn’s “Harmoniesse”. Opera roles with different companies include Clorinda in Rossini’s La Cenerentola, Alice Ford in Verdi’s Falstaff, Naiad and the Zerbinetta cover in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos, plus Fire in an English L’Enfant et les Sortileges by Ravel. She has appeared with the Canadian chamber groups Land’s End and Rosa Selvatica singing such works as Joseph Schwantner’s Sparrows, Chansons Madécasses by Ravel, Russian Stravinsky songs and new Canadian music. Other solo work has included Handel’s Messiah, Dubois’ Seven Last Words of Christ, and Elgar’s The Light of Life in other venues. Though now teaching at Vincennes University, she taught voice lessons at Indiana State University for three years where performances included works in the Contemporary Music Festival, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and most recently Haydn’s Creation. This spring at IU, she had the privilege of performing with Distinguished Professor Tim Noble as Tony’s sister Marie in The Most Happy Fella. She has been active in the executive of Student NATS since 2005.
