SOCS stands for Students Of Cognitive Science. Our organization aims to provide a community for undergraduate students interested in the Cognitive Sciences! That's awesome, but what even is Cognitive Science?!
Cognitive Science is the study of mind processes through aspects of Neuroscience, Psychology, Neurobiology, Artificial Intelligence, Linguistics, Philosophy, and Anthropology. Many other Psychological and Brain Science professions are within the breadth of Cognitive Science as well -- one of the best things about Cognitive Science is that it is hugely interdisciplinary. SOCS hopes to provide you a with community that will connect you to our university, specifically in the field of study which interests you most. SOCS hopes to provide support to students wanting an academic path within the Psychological and Brain Sciences through weekly conversations with research professionals, conference presentations, resume building, and research opportunities. SOCS assists students and faculty on improving and developing the IU Cognitive Science Program and plays a key role in facilitating the success of the Midwest Undergraduate Cognitive Science Conference (MUCSC)!
