Chapter 2: Page 60. The three diagrams in Figure 2.2 should have bars drawn to form histograms so that the curves (densities) appear as stylized or smoothed versions of these histograms.
Chapter 4: Page 138, left-hand margin. The definition of discrete random variable should not be limited to a finite number of values; a discrete random variable can have an infinite number of distinct values.
Page 147, Query 4.3 Answer, relative frequency block. The squared deviation from the mean for the $35,500 car should be 302760. There was a typo in this number; all calculations are correct.
Chapter 8: Page 292. The margin of error in Query 8.3 is wrong. The correct answer is
ANSWER: A 95 percent confidence interval for the population mean negotiated price of Camry competitors is $21.48 to $24.95, in Chart 8.1. The EXCEL commands are also shown in Chart 8.1, where the data are in cells A1 through A8. The Camry price of $25,700 is outside this 95 percent confidence interval.

Chapter 9 Page 327. Third paragraph. There are no "appendices" on the Type I and II tradeoffs.
Page 333. Exercise 9.7a is not correctly stated and is not workable as stated.
Page 337. Middle of page p(z ³ |zc|) is not correct; it should be deleted.
Page 340 p(z ³ |zc|) should be 2p(z ³ zc) and p(t ³ |tc|) should be 2p(t ³tc) for positive zc and tc.
Pages 343 and 346. There are two Queries 9.3.
Chapter 12:
Page 396. Third line from top, Exercise 12.7, the bar and square are misplaced.
Page 414. Line 15 from bottom. The lace length of 54 inches, in column 3, is associated with 12 eyes, in column 4, as this matched pair appears in the answer on page 415.
