" A Dance..."

The basic steps in swing dance are very easy to learn. And once you've got the basics, you'll be dying to know more! The easiest way to learn to dance or to pick up some new moves is to come to club meetings. The tentative schedule is below. But, that's not all!

The BEST way to learn to Swing is to take part in a beginning lesson series. There are lessons available this semester. There will also be a number of free swing dances sponsored by the IU Swing Club. Getting a formal introduction to Swing Dance -- and getting your basics down cold -- will provide an excellent foundation for the smooth moves you'll want to show off in the future!

Lesson Series

There will be 12 lessons in our weekly Beginning lesson series for the Spring. To get a preview of the club and our activities, just come to the IU Swing Club's Call Out meeting, Monday, January 21st. There will also be another Call Out on Wednesday, January 23rd. If you can't make it, just show up the next Monday or Wednesday. (No partner required!) Best of all, your membership in the IU swing club INCLUDES the lesson series! In addition to the beginner lesson series there are one or more intermediate lesson series offered each semester. The dance taught and schedule varies:

The Spring 2013 Begining Lesson Series will be Charleston and Lindy-Hop, taught by Danny and Linnea from January 28th to April 22nd at 8:00 pm and Blues taught by Josh and Amanda from January 30th to April 24th at 8:00 pm.

The Spring 2012 Intermediate Lesson Series will be classes in Charleston and Lindy-Hop, taught by Danny and Shannon from January 28th to April 22nd at 6:45pm and West Coast Swing taught by Avery and Crystal from January 30th to April 24th at 6:45 pm. Prerequisite: completion of beginning lesson series or consent of instructor.

IU Students
Begining Lessons $50 (includes the $15 Membership fee)*
Intermediate Lessons $50 (includes the $15 Membership fee)**
For Monday and Wednesday Lessons $30 more

Non-Students
Begining Lessons $60 (includes the $15 Membership fee)*
Intermediate Lessons $60 (includes the $15 Membership fee)**
For Monday and Wednesday Lessons $30 more

IU Swing Club Membership Fee $15 (each semester)
Must be paid to participate in open dancing.

* You get 10 dollars off the price if you took any of the Fall 2012 lesson series.
** You can take the Begining Lessons for free if you sign up for the either of he Intermediate Lesson Series.

Other Information

All Begining lessons begin at 8:00 PM and lasts approximately 1 hour.

All Intermediate lessons begin at 6:45 PM and lasts approximately 1 hour.

After every lesson, from 9:00-10:30, there are opportunities for you to practice what you learn by social dancing.
