August 2005                                                                                                                                                Volume 2, Issue 6

Greetings from Indiana University and the IU-Cisco Project!

As a new academic year quickly approaches, we are entering an exciting phase of the project.  Analysis of the data collected to date is currently in progress, and reports will be written as the data analysis progresses.  Additionally, in the coming month we will launch the Follow-up Survey which will be administered to CCNA students who have completed the program.

Please continue to encourage your current and former students to take the CCNA Student Surveys and Follow-up Survey.  And, if you have not done already done so, I would like to personally ask you to complete the CCNA Instructors Survey.

Enjoy the final weeks of summer, and contact a member of our research team if you have questions about the   IU-Cisco Project.

Dr. Alan Dennis                                                           Best wishes,

                                                              Alan Dennis

Gratitude Expressed to Instructor

Earlier this summer more than 250 people who contributed to the success of the IU-Cisco Evaluation Study were mailed a personalized Certificate of Recognition.  The certificates honor individuals as an Advisory Board Member.

Congratulations and thank you for your continued support and feedback!

CCNA Instructor Survey-Survey Administration Continues

Have you completed the CCNA Instructors Survey? If not, we would like to hear from you.  This confidential survey is brought to you by the Indiana University Cisco Networking Academy Evaluation Project and can be accessed from a link on your Instructor Homepage.

We created an informational flyer that was mailed to a group of academies with large numbers of CCNA instructors.  You may view the flyer here.

If you would like a copy of the flyer to display at your institution, please let us know

One-Year Replication Study

Replication Study with One-Year Academies Beginning in August:

We will administer the CCNA Student Survey to a group of approximately 50 academies that offer the entire CCNA Program in a period of one year.  Based on the original study’s program length, frequencies from both the CCNA Student Survey and the Career and Education Survey, and the willingness of the instructors to participate, we invited more than seventy-three academies to participate. These academies were asked to replicate last year’s study with a new group of students entering CCNA1 in the fall of 2005.

The revalidation process allows the IU-Team the opportunity to clarify, and make more accessible and understandable the instructions and procedures for the on-line surveys, as well as continue our communication with instructors.  Our goal has always been fixed upon fostering a rapport with the academies, more specifically the instructors, and the One-Year Replication Study will allow for this to occur.
