What should I do if a customer’s card is declined?
The terminal may prompt you to call, hold, or decline the customer’s card. Even though, the authorization center may instruct you to keep the customer’s card, do not keep the card. Your safety is our primary concern therefore keeping the customer’s card is not advisable. Simply ask the customer if there is another from of payment that they would like to use. Then, instruct the customer to contact their payment card provider for any questions concerning their card.

What types of payment cards do we accept?
All Indiana University merchants are initially set up with Visa, Master Card, and Discover. A merchant may also accept American Express and Diners Club but would need to make a request to Payment Card Services to do so.

How long should I keep the merchant copy of my receipts?
Merchants are required to retain payment card documents for a maximum retention period of two years. These documents must be stored in an area that is secure.

Why should I print my payment card reports daily?
Customer account numbers are now truncated when they print out on the transaction receipt. Therefore, it is suggested that you print your payment card reports each day so that you have a record of the customers complete card number for the transaction amount.

Who should I call if I have a problem with my payment card terminal?
You should contact Payment Card Services first, either by phone at (812) 855-0586 or by email.

How do I get payment card supplies?
Supplies are available to you at no charge. If you need printer paper or printer ribbons submit the Payment Card Supply Request form or contact Payment Card Services by email.
