Post Program

After returning to the U.S., IUHPFL alumni are required to fill out an exit survey about their Program experience. This survey helps the IUHPFL evaluate the instructors, host family experience and various other aspects of the Program. Sometime in September and once students have completed the survey, students will receive a final packet.

This packet will include the following items:

  1. The student’s final evaluation as provided by the instructor team
  2. Certificate of Participation
  3. If the student met the expectations of the Program s/he will also earn the Award of Excellence
  4. Optional Program journal the class may have assembled while abroad.

At School and Beyond

Once alumni return to their high school, they are required to support their foreign language teachers classroom and department to the best of their ability.

Alumni are also asked to promote the IUHPFL to future generations of students. They may spread the word by sharing their experience about the IUHPFL and/or present the IUHPFL PowerPoint plus personal images and/or videos. They may also volunteer with the IUHPFL, especially if they consider attending Indiana University. For volunteer opportunities please contact the IUHPFL at .

College

Many IUHPFL alumni choose to attend Indiana University. It is only natural to build on the experience of a IUHPFL summer abroad and consider a college-level overseas experience. Indiana University's Office of Overseas Study offers more than 250 international programs in 17 languages and 52 countries. Once students are registered and attend college, a visit with the helpful Overseas Study advisors will be an exciting opportunity to learn more about spending a summer, semester or academic year abroad. The Office of Overseas Study is located — in the same building as the IUHPFL — on the first and second floor of the Leo R. Dowling International Center.
