Academic Program

Academic Year Option: 27 IU credits

  • September
    • 3-credit French language and civilization course
  • October-June
    • 18-24 credits in courses in the humanities and social sciences with French students at Université de Provence or the IEP
    • 2-6 credits in French language and civilization courses

Spring Semester Option: 16 IU credits

  • January-June
    • 4 credits in a required French language and civilization course
    • 9 credits in humanities and social sciences with French students (at the IEP or Université de Provence)
Housing
  • Single rooms in French dormitories or
    apartments with other program students (academic year students only)
  • Room in French household (spring semester students only)
Eligibility
You may apply if you
  • are a student at any IU campus who is making normal academic progress,
  • are in at least your fourth full-time semester of college (or fifth semester for spring semester option),
  • have completed one 300-level French course for academic year option (or two 300-level courses for semester option),
  • have approximately a 3.0 cumulative and French GPA.
Complete eligibility criteria and selection criteria are outlined within the Academic Policies and Procedures of the Office of Overseas Study. Selection is based on maturity, seriousness of purpose, and appropriateness of match between program and applicant. Students on disciplinary probation during the program period are not eligible.
