Indiana University Bloomington

There are three ways to support the Borns Jewish Studies Program at Indiana University: become a member of the Friends program; make a donation in your name, that of a loved-one, or in memory of someone; or endow a scholarship, faculty position or program.

Friends of the Borns Jewish Studies Program

The Borns Jewish Studies Program has been able to flourish because of the support of community members who recognize the value of scholarly inquiry and public education. Many of these supporters have elected to join the Friends of the Borns Jewish Studies Program, one of the largest support groups at Indiana University. The contributions of Friends provide student scholarships, subsidize public lectures and other special programs, and support the costs of scholarly research and conferences.

We offer Friends a 20% discount on books from Indiana University Press, one of the leading academic publishers in the field of Jewish Studies.

Thanks to state and federal tax laws, your gift to the Indiana University Foundation for Indiana University's Robert A. and Sandra S. Borns Jewish Studies Program can qualify for certain tax deductions. Please consult your tax advisor for specific information and details.

Endowment Opportunities

The program is in particular need of funding to support undergraduate student scholarships which can have a life-changing impact by encouraging students to make Jewish Studies part of their college education.

For a limited time, a gift of $50,000 or more for scholarships may qualify for a university matching program that will greatly enhance its impact. A gift may also provide significant tax savings. Please consult your tax advisor.

JSP Advisory Board

The Borns JSP benefits from the leadership and counsel of an outstanding Executive Committee and Advisory Board drawn from community members in Indiana and supporters of IU from around the country. These committed people, led by Advisory Board president Dr. Mark Pescovitz and vice president Dr. Peter Cahn, have been crucial for the program’s success, raising funds for six endowed Chairs—a singular accomplishment—along with student scholarships and fellowships, endowed lectureships, programs, and academic initiatives. They are an extraordinary group, enormously talented and deeply committed to education and Jewish culture. We are very grateful to our members for their time and commitment to the program and its students.
