The certificate program is open to all undergraduate students on the Bloomington campus and is designed for students who wish to gain a broad-based knowledge of Jewish Studies. More significant than the Jewish Studies minor, the certificate is treated as an addition to a degree by the university.
Students can complete the minor in Hebrew along with the certificate.
Students in the Jacobs School of Music can complete the certificate and a Bachelor of Music or they can choose to complete a B.S. in Music and an outside field (Jewish Studies). (Students in the School of Music who are interested in pre-cantorial studies should consider the Jewish Sacred Music Program as vocal performance majors.)
To enroll in the certificate program, call the Borns Jewish Studies Program (855-0453) to arrange an appointment to meet with the Jewish Studies advisor, Dr. Carolyn Lipson-Walker. Freshmen are encouraged to meet with the advisor in the Fall before registering for Spring courses.
