Jewish Studies Certificate Requirements
for Students Enrolling at IUB Beginning Summer 2009 through Spring 2011

Completion of the following: A minimum of 8 Jewish Studies courses with a minimum grade of C- distributed as follows:
- 2 courses in each of the 3 major areas of Jewish Studies: Literature and the Arts, History and Society, and Religion and Thought. 2 courses of Hebrew and/or Yiddish language instruction at the 200 level or higher may be substituted for 2 courses in one of the major areas.
- 2 additional courses chosen, in any combination, from these 3 major areas or from Hebrew and/or Yiddish language courses.
- A students must complete a minimum of 10 credit hours of course work (language testing is not acceptable) on the Bloomington campus. A maximum of 3 courses may be credited toward the certificate from either language testing or from transfer credit from universities other than The Hebrew University (via IU Overseas Study Program).
