This course meets three times a week and is offered as the fourth semester course in the Biblical Hebrew language track. It addresses the intermediate language acquisition level of Biblical Hebrew. This course requires Hebrew language skills developed in the first year Hebrew courses and in the third semester Biblical Hebrew course. The course focuses on the close reading of poetic Biblical texts. Therefore, it establishes students’ ability to analyze both the literary qualities and grammar of Biblical poetry. Student will also build on their knowledge of the historical development of the Hebrew language and textual criticism.

This course is open to undergraduate students as well as to graduate students. Graduate students should enroll in this course through the NELC Department. Undergraduate students should enroll in this course through the Jewish Studies Program. This course may be used to satisfy the foreign language or the language proficiency requirements.
