Jewish Studies B.A. Requirements

for Students Enrolling at IUB at IUB Before Summer 2009

Students must complete the following:

  • Two semesters of Modern Hebrew JSTU-H 100 and H 150 or Yiddish GER-Y 100 and Y 150.
  • REL-R 245-Introduction to Judaism or JSTU-J 251 / HIST-H 251 Introduction to Jewish History: From the Bible to Spanish Expulsion (on the Bloomington campus).
  • JSTU-J 252 / HIST-H 252-Introduction to Jewish History: From Spanish Expulsion to the Present (taught each spring). (Must be taken on the Bloomington campus).
  • Four courses in one of three areas of specialization:
    • Language and Literature
    • History and Society
    • Religion and Thought
  • Two additional courses outside the student's chosen area of specialization.
