This course develops the skills necessary to give effective exercise prescriptions in health and disease. Beginning with the interpretation of health and fitness assessment techniques, exercise prescriptions are developed for the apparently healthy adult.

For the second half of the class exercise prescription activities are applied to cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic, neuromuscular, orthopedic, musculoskeletal, and immune disease. The outline for these diseases is illustrated on the left.

    Most importantly, skill to identify clients and patients who can benefit from exercise will be developed.

    Prerequisites for this lab include a capable background in exercise physiology including, skilled laboratory experiences.    This course is designed to utilize your knowledge in physiology and in exercise physiology as well as to apply your laboratory skills to the clinical setting.
