Local Nets

A "Net" in amateur radio terms is an organized meeting on the air. One individual controls the traffic and organizes the meeting, and allows others to "check in" to the meeting via radio. Below are some of the local nets in and around the Bloomington area.

K9IU Weekly net Held weekly on Sunday nights, 19:00 local, with the exception of the third Sunday of the month when we meet in-person. Everyone welcome regardless of IU or K9IU affiliation. 146.940- 136.5pl

University IRLP net Held weekly on Tuesday nights, 21:00 local, on the IRLP Reflector channel 9440. This is a chance to meet and chat with amateur radio operators from other universities around the world. This net was just started in February 2009 and is quickly growing. 442.825+ 136.5pl or 146.940- 136.5pl

Monroe Co ARES net Held weekly on Monday nights, 19:30 local. Everyone welcome. ARES nets may also be called at any time during an emergency or special event (see Skywarn Net below for example) 146.640- 136.5pl

South Central IN Simplex Net Held weekly on Monday nights, 20:00 local or immediately following the Monroe Co ARES net if it runs late. Good net to test your radio capabilities! 146.580 simplex

Central IN Skywarn test net First Monday of the month, 20:00 local to test liason capabilities to the NWS net in Indianapolis. All are welcome, check in with your county name. 146.970- in Indy or 147.435s in Freetown. 77pl req'd

Monroe Co wet net Held daily around 07:30 to give rain gauge reports of the past 24 hours 146.640- 136.5pl

Monroe Co Skywarn Net Held during periods of severe weather, this net is activated by the request of the National Weather Service in Indianapolis or whenever Monroe or surrounding counties are under a severe weather warning 146.640- 136.5pl
