Kappa Delta Rho is always looking for ways to better itself and the communities in which it's involved in. Here at Indiana University we have two major philanthropies that our brothers put extra focus on. Those would be "KDR for Kids" and "Bowling For Troops." Although those two get extra attention, it doesn't mean that it is all we do. In the past we have helped with Habitat For Humanity, the local soup kitchen, handing drinks out to marathon runners, among many other things. A Kappa Delta Rho brother is never afraid of getting their hands dirty to give back, so don't be surprised to see us out picking up trash or planting trees.
KDR For Kids: KDR For Kids is our National Fraternity's philanthropy that they require all chapters to do. The great thing is that KDR For Kids is only an idea that needs to be completed. As long as each chapter helps children in some way then they are participating in the philanthropy. Nu chapter has decided to take a different approach to this and pair up with sororities who also have philanthropies that involve kids. It makes it a great way for Kappa Delta Rho to get out into the Greek community as well as give back to the children.
Bowling For Troops: "Bowling For Troops" is a philanthropy specific to the Nu chapter. The idea was conceived in 2006 as a way to send care packages to the Indiana National Guard units serving in Iraq. In 2007 we held our first full-scale event with the support of the Bloomington Family Readiness Group and raised over $1500, earning a 2nd-place award for Outstanding Philanthropy from our national fraternity. Though we continue to hope and pray our troops come home safely, we look forward to continuing our support for them in any way possible.
