"Sex and the Cinema" Gallery Show now online

Originally presented in the gallery at the Kinsey Institute from January to April 2006, "Sex and the Cinema" is now accessible online on our website. The exhibit emphasizes advertising and publicity materials created by motion picture producers and distributors in the United States from the 1930s through the 1970s.

International Academy of Sex Research - Recent Conference Presentations by Kinsey Institute Researchers

The International Academy of Sex Researcher held a meeting in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on July 12th to 15th. Abstracts and posters from the presentations of our attending Kinsey Institute researchers are now accessible online.

Bloomington honors the life of Alfred Kinsey with special screening of Kinsey

This August marks 50 years since the death of Alfred Kinsey. The Friends of The Kinsey Institute will host a special screening of Kinsey, starring Liam Neeson and Laura Linney, at the Buskirk-Chumley Theatre, 114 E. Kirkwood Ave, Bloomington, IN, on Monday, August 21st. The public is invited to a reception and exhibition of photographs.

Coming to the Gallery in August - Sex Objects

Running August 1 through December 22, 2006, this exhibit features sculpture and other three-dimensional items from The Kinsey Institute collection. A catered reception will be held on Friday, September 8th, from 5 to 7 pm. This event is free and open to the public.

Pioneering Sex Researcher John Money Dies at 84

Sex researcher Dr. John Money died on Friday, July 7, one day before his 85th birthday. Founder of the Gender Identity Clinic and inventor of the term "gender role," Dr. Money had a worldwide reputation as an expert in gender science, research, and clinical care. The Kinsey Institute library houses Dr. Money’s archival collections. In 2003, Dr. Money established the John Money Sexology Scholar’s Fund for The Kinsey Institute library. Donations in honor of Dr. Money are welcome.

The mission of The Kinsey Institute is to promote interdisciplinary research and scholarship in the fields of human sexuality, gender, and reproduction. The Institute was founded in 1947 by renowned sex researcher Alfred Kinsey. Today, the Institute has two components, an Indiana University research institute and a not-for-profit corporation, which owns and manages the Institute's research data and archives, collections, and databases.
